Badalona Women 0-0 Real Sociedad Women: Defences on Top in Goalless Draw

Badalona Women held Real Sociedad Women to a 0-0 draw in the Spanish Primera División de la Liga de Fútbol Femenino on Saturday, 19 September 2026. In a match of few clear-cut chances, both defences stood firm, and the points were shared at the Estadi Municipal de Badalona.

Match Overview

Real Sociedad Women, one of the established forces in Spanish women's football, travelled to Catalonia expecting to claim three points. However, they found a disciplined and determined Badalona side that defended deep and limited space. The visitors dominated possession but struggled to find a way through a well-organised backline.

Key Moments

• 14' – Real Sociedad's first real chance is tipped over the bar by Badalona's goalkeeper, Marta Sánchez.
• 33' – Badalona nearly take a shock lead, but their striker's shot hits the post.
• 58' – Real Sociedad's forward is denied by a last-ditch tackle from Badalona captain Laura Gómez.
• 76' – A Real Sociedad free-kick is headed narrowly wide as the pressure builds.
• 90' – Badalona clear a late corner to secure the clean sheet.

Tactical Story

Real Sociedad lined up in a 4-3-3 and looked to overload the flanks, but Badalona's 4-5-1 defensive block proved incredibly difficult to penetrate. The home side's midfield worked tirelessly to track runners and cut passing lanes. When Real Sociedad did get into wide areas, their crosses were dealt with by a commanding centre-back pairing. Badalona's counter-attacks were rare but carried a threat, with one effort hitting the woodwork.

Standout Players

Badalona's goalkeeper, Marta Sánchez, was the hero of the day with several important saves, including a superb first-half stop. Captain Laura Gómez led by example with a flawless defensive display. For Real Sociedad, midfielders Ane Azkona and Nerea Eizagirre tried to unlock the defence but found little joy. Their goalkeeper, Adriana Nanclares, was largely untested but dealt confidently with crosses.

Season Impact

This goalless draw is a moral victory for Badalona Women, who earn a valuable point against one of the league's top sides and boost their survival hopes. Real Sociedad Women, meanwhile, drop two points in their pursuit of the title and will be frustrated by their lack of cutting edge. The result highlights the growing competitiveness of the Primera División Femenina, where even the league's giants can be held by resolute defending.
