Juventus U23, also known as Juventus Next Gen, claimed a 1-0 away win over Trento in Italian Serie C on Sunday, 25 October 2026, with a second-half goal proving enough at the Stadio Briamasco.

The young Juventus side produced a mature performance, defending with discipline and taking the decisive chance when it arrived. Trento pushed hard for an equaliser in the final 20 minutes but could not find a way through.

Match overview

Trento started with energy, pressing Juventus U23’s defenders and trying to force mistakes in the build-up. The home side’s midfield worked hard to win second balls, and their early crosses caused a few moments of uncertainty in the Juventus box.

Juventus U23 gradually settled into the game. Their midfield began to find pockets of space between Trento’s lines, and their wingers stretched the play. The first half ended goalless, but the pattern was set: Trento aggressive, Juventus patient and dangerous on the break.

The decisive goal

The breakthrough came in the 58th minute. Juventus U23 won the ball in midfield and moved it quickly to the edge of the area. Tommaso Maressa received the pass, shifted the ball onto his stronger foot and placed a low shot beyond the Trento goalkeeper.

Trento responded strongly. They pushed their full-backs higher, increased the tempo of their passing and forced Juventus U23 into a deeper defensive shape. A header from a corner clipped the top of the crossbar, and a late shot from outside the box was tipped over as the home side searched for an equaliser.

Tactical story

Juventus U23’s success was built on compactness. The back four stayed narrow, the midfield screened the space in front of the defence and Trento were forced to play around them rather than through them. When Juventus won the ball, they attacked with purpose, using quick combinations to progress up the pitch.

Trento had more of the ball in the second half but struggled to create clear openings. Their crosses were well defended, and Juventus U23’s goalkeeper handled the aerial threat confidently. The visitors’ game management in the final 10 minutes was particularly impressive for a young side.

Standout players and table impact

Tommaso Maressa will take the plaudits for the winning goal, but Juventus U23’s goalkeeper and centre-backs were equally important. Trento’s most dangerous player was their left winger, who repeatedly beat his marker and delivered crosses into the box.

The victory gives Juventus U23 three valuable points in the Serie C standings and continues their development as a competitive senior side. For Trento, it is a frustrating home defeat after a spirited second-half display. Both teams will take lessons into their next fixtures, with Juventus U23’s blend of youth and composure proving the difference on the night.
