Dartford edged a five-goal thriller against Three Bridges FC, winning 3-2 in the English Isthmian Premier League after a late goal settled a match that swung one way and then the other. Dartford had built a two-goal lead, only for Three Bridges to fight back to 2-2, before the home side found the decisive moment in the closing stages.

Match Overview

Dartford started on the front foot and were rewarded in the 12th minute when a quick move down the left ended with a low cross and a close-range finish. The lead was doubled in the 38th minute after a corner was only half-cleared and a shot from the edge of the box found the bottom corner. Three Bridges responded well after the break and pulled one back in the 55th minute through a well-placed header.

The visitors equalised in the 78th minute after a period of sustained pressure, with a forward turning inside the box and finishing calmly. That set up a tense finale, but Dartford found the winner in the 88th minute when a substitute’s cross was converted at the back post. Three Bridges pushed for a third equaliser in stoppage time, but Dartford held on.

Tactical Story

Dartford’s early pressing forced Three Bridges into mistakes, and their willingness to attack down the left created the first two goals. Three Bridges adjusted at half-time, pushing their wing-backs higher and finding space in behind. That change brought them back into the game, but it also left them exposed to counter-attacks, which is how Dartford found the late winner.

Standout Players

Dartford’s centre-forward was a constant handful, scoring once and assisting another. The substitute who delivered the late cross also made a decisive impact. For Three Bridges, the midfielder who drove their second-half comeback was excellent, and their equalising goalscorer showed composure in the box.

Season Impact

The three points are significant for Dartford in the English Isthmian Premier League, keeping them in the race at the top end of the table. Three Bridges will be frustrated to leave empty-handed after a brave comeback, but their second-half performance suggests they can compete with the division’s stronger sides. The result adds another dramatic chapter to the Isthmian Premier League season.
