Dejan FC Edge Persiba Balikpapan 1-0 in Indonesian Liga 2 Away Test

Dejan FC secured a narrow but valuable 1-0 victory over Persiba Balikpapan in Indonesian Liga 2 on Friday, September 25, 2026. A single goal was enough to separate the sides in a 20:00 kickoff, as Dejan produced a disciplined defensive performance and took one of the few clear chances that came their way.

Persiba Balikpapan controlled long spells of possession, especially in the second half, but struggled to break down a compact and well-organised Dejan FC back line. The visitors defended their lead with composure in the closing stages, limiting Persiba to mostly speculative efforts from distance.

Match Overview

The first half was a cagey affair. Persiba Balikpapan looked to build patiently from the back, while Dejan FC sat in a mid-block and looked to spring forward on the counter. Clear-cut chances were rare, but Dejan grew more confident as the half wore on and began to find space behind Persiba’s advanced full-backs.

The decisive moment came in the 54th minute. Dejan FC won possession in midfield and moved the ball quickly into the channel. A low cross was only half-cleared, and the follow-up strike found the bottom corner. Persiba pushed hard for an equaliser, but Dejan’s goalkeeper and centre-backs held firm.

Key Moments

• 21st minute: Persiba Balikpapan force a save with a dipping shot from outside the box.
• 37th minute: Dejan FC counter quickly, but the final shot is blocked by a last-ditch tackle.
• 54th minute: Dejan FC score the only goal after a half-cleared cross is converted from the edge of the area.
• 72nd minute: Persiba head a corner narrowly over the bar.
• 89th minute: Dejan FC clear a dangerous free-kick to preserve the clean sheet.

Tactical Story

Persiba Balikpapan lined up in a 4-2-3-1 and tried to dominate the ball through their central midfielders. They circulated possession well but often lacked penetration in the final third. Dejan FC defended in a narrow 4-4-2 block, forcing Persiba into wide areas and then crowding the penalty box with bodies.

Dejan’s game plan was built on patience and counter-attacking. Their midfielders stayed disciplined, rarely leaving the central corridor open, and their front two worked hard to hold the ball when it was played forward. The winning goal came from exactly the kind of transition moment they had been waiting for.

Standout Players

Dejan FC’s goalkeeper was the hero of the night, making three important saves and commanding his area confidently. The match-winner in midfield also deserves credit for a tireless performance, while the centre-back pairing dealt well with Persiba’s late aerial barrage. For Persiba, the left winger was their most dangerous outlet, but the team lacked a finishing touch.

Indonesian Liga 2 Table Impact

The win gives Dejan FC an important three points on the road and boosts their momentum in Indonesian Liga 2. Persiba Balikpapan remain a strong side at home, but this defeat shows they must find more creativity against deep-lying opponents if they are to challenge at the top of the table.
