Stuttgarter Kickers U19 and SV Sandhausen U19 played out a remarkable 5-5 draw in the German U19 JBH on Saturday, with ten goals, multiple lead changes and a stoppage-time equaliser.

It was a match that defied the usual rhythms of youth football. Stuttgarter Kickers U19 looked in control at times, Sandhausen U19 refused to go away, and both defences struggled to contain the pace and directness of the opposing attacks. By the final whistle, a point apiece felt both thrilling and slightly unsatisfying for two teams that had chances to win it.

Match overview

The game was open from the start. Stuttgarter Kickers pressed high and tried to win the ball in the final third, while Sandhausen were happy to attack quickly through the middle and down the channels. That produced a frantic first half and an even more chaotic second, with the lead changing hands and both goalkeepers called into action repeatedly.

Tactical story

Both teams played with high defensive lines and aggressive pressing, which made the match entertaining but also exposed their back lines. Stuttgarter Kickers U19 were the more structured side in possession, using wide areas to create crossing opportunities, while Sandhausen U19 were at their best in transition. The number of goals conceded from quick breaks and set-piece situations will give both coaching staffs plenty to review.

What stood out was the resilience of both teams. Every time one side seemed to have seized momentum, the other found a response. In the closing stages, Sandhausen pushed bodies forward and got their reward, while Kickers will be disappointed not to have managed the final minutes better.

Standout performers

Leon Bauer’s hat-trick was the highlight for Stuttgarter Kickers U19, with the striker showing good movement and calm finishing. Jonas Klein also impressed with two goals and constant energy. For Sandhausen U19, Tim Keller and Nico Haas each scored twice, while Elias Braun’s strike from midfield gave his side another route back into the game.

What it means

The draw gives both teams a point in the German U19 JBH and leaves them with mixed emotions. Stuttgarter Kickers U19 will focus on the attacking quality but worry about the defensive lapses; Sandhausen U19 will take heart from their fighting spirit and their ability to score in clusters. In a league where goal difference and momentum can matter, a 5-5 draw is the kind of result that lingers.
