Tactical Story

Frejus St-Raphael opted for an attacking 4-3-3, but their high defensive line was repeatedly exposed by Chasselay's pacey forwards. Chasselay, playing a 4-4-2, were content to sit deep and launch rapid counter-attacks. Their midfield duo won the battle in the center, breaking up play and quickly transitioning to attack. Frejus's full-backs pushed too high, leaving gaps that Chasselay exploited ruthlessly. The home side's defense struggled to cope with the movement of Chasselay's front two, who combined brilliantly for the third goal.

Standout Players

Chasselay's [Forward] was outstanding, scoring one and assisting another with a tireless display. [Winger] also impressed with his direct running and goal. For Frejus, [Captain] was their best player, scoring a penalty and trying to drive his team forward, but he was let down by his defensive colleagues. Chasselay's goalkeeper made a couple of important saves at 2-2 to keep his side in front.

Table and Season Impact

This victory lifts Chasselay M.D. Azergues into the upper reaches of the National 2 table, boosting their confidence for the challenges ahead. Frejus St-Raphael, meanwhile, are left to reflect on a defensive performance that raised serious questions. They remain in mid-table but will need to tighten up at the back if they are to mount a promotion challenge. Chasselay's attacking display will serve as a warning to the rest of the division, while Frejus must regroup quickly before their next fixture.
