AF Virois secured a commanding 2-0 away victory at Stade Brestois II on Sunday, October 4, 2026, in the French Championnat National 2, condemning the reserve side to another disappointing defeat.

Match Overview

At the Stade de Kérabec in Brest, the visitors produced a disciplined and clinical performance. Despite Brest II enjoying more of the ball, Virois defended resolutely and took their chances, scoring twice in the second half to claim all three points. The win lifts Virois into the upper reaches of the table, while Brest II remain rooted near the bottom.

Key Moments

• 52' – AF Virois broke the deadlock when Maxime Hébert latched onto a long ball and finished coolly.
• 70' – Virois doubled their lead through a header from captain Pierre Dupont following a corner.
• 85' – Brest II's best chance fell to Hugo Le Roux, but his shot was brilliantly saved by Virois goalkeeper Antoine Marie.

Tactical Story

Stade Brestois II played a possession-heavy game, with 65% of the ball, but they lacked penetration in the final third. AF Virois sat in a compact 4-5-1 formation, frustrating the young Brest side and hitting them on the break. Virois's set-piece threat was evident, with their second goal coming from a well-worked corner. Brest II's defence switched off for both goals, a recurring theme this season.

Standout Players

Maxime Hébert was a constant menace for Virois, scoring the opener and holding the ball up well. Pierre Dupont led by example, scoring the second and winning everything in the air. For Brest II, Hugo Le Roux showed flashes of promise but lacked support. Virois goalkeeper Antoine Marie kept a clean sheet with a string of fine saves.

Table Impact

AF Virois climb to 6th place, just three points off the promotion play-off spots. Stade Brestois II remain 15th, deep in relegation trouble, with just one win from their last seven matches. The pressure is mounting on the Brest reserve team coaching staff.

Next weekend, Stade Brestois II host AS Vitré, while AF Virois welcome Tour d'Auvergne de Rennes.
