Vierzon Brush Aside Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois 3-0

Vierzon delivered a dominant away performance to beat Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois 3-0 in French Championnat National 2 on October 18, 2026. Antoine Dubois scored twice and Maxime Leroy added a late third as the visitors controlled the game from start to finish.

Match Overview

Vierzon set the tone early with high pressing and quick ball circulation. Their opener arrived in the 21st minute when Dubois latched onto a through ball and finished confidently past the goalkeeper. Sainte-Geneviève struggled to build momentum, often losing possession in midfield and inviting pressure.

The second half followed a similar pattern. Dubois doubled the lead in the 56th minute with a powerful strike from the edge of the box after a neat lay-off. The home side’s afternoon worsened when they were reduced to ten men in the 70th minute following a second yellow card. Leroy sealed the win in the 84th minute, converting a low cross from the right.

Key Moments

• 21’ – Dubois opener: A well-timed through ball splits the defense and Dubois finishes low.
• 56’ – Dubois second: A composed strike from 18 yards doubles Vierzon’s lead.
• 70’ – Red card: Sainte-Geneviève are reduced to ten men after a second booking.
• 84’ – Leroy goal: Vierzon’s patience pays off as Leroy taps in a low cross.

Tactical Story

Vierzon’s 4-3-3 shape allowed them to dominate the midfield and create overloads on the flanks. Their pressing forced Sainte-Geneviève into long balls, which were easily reclaimed by Vierzon’s center-backs. The numerical advantage after the red card only increased Vierzon’s control, and they comfortably saw out the closing stages.

Standout Players

Dubois was the standout performer, combining intelligent movement with clinical finishing. Leroy’s energy and direct running caused problems throughout, while Vierzon’s midfield trio controlled the tempo. For Sainte-Geneviève, the goalkeeper made several saves to keep the score respectable, but the home side lacked creativity in the final third.

Season Impact

The victory strengthens Vierzon’s push for a strong league position and highlights their ability to win comfortably on the road. Sainte-Geneviève’s defeat leaves them with questions to answer defensively, especially after another costly red card. Vierzon will look to build on this performance as they enter a demanding run of fixtures.
