ASPTT Dijon suffered a narrow 2-3 defeat at the hands of IS Selongey in an absorbing French Championnat National 2 fixture that served up five goals and plenty of drama. Selongey's attacking efficiency proved decisive, as they edged a contest in which the hosts contributed fully and pushed right to the final whistle.

Match Overview

This was a game that promised goals from early on and delivered them. ASPTT Dijon started brightly in front of their own supporters, moving the ball quickly and probing down both flanks, while IS Selongey looked dangerous every time they won possession and drove forward at pace.

• Result: ASPTT Dijon 2-3 IS Selongey
• Competition: French Championnat National 2
• Goals: Five in total, with Selongey edging the contest
• Outcome: A precious away victory for the visitors

Key Moments

Selongey struck first against the run of play, punishing a loose pass with a swift, direct counter-attack that ended with a confident finish. The goal settled the visitors and forced ASPTT Dijon to chase the game earlier than they would have liked.

The hosts responded well, equalising with a move that showed their quality in wide areas — a driven cross met with a decisive header. But Selongey restored their lead before the interval, capitalising on a defensive hesitation to score from close range at a crucial moment in the match.

Early in the second half, Selongey extended their advantage to 3-1 with their best goal of the game, a sweeping team move finished with precision. To their credit, ASPTT Dijon refused to fold, pulling one back and then pressing hard for an equaliser. A late header narrowly cleared the bar, and a stoppage-time scramble was hacked clear as Selongey held on.

Tactical Story

Selongey's success was built on ruthlessness in transition. They were content to concede possession in midfield, confident in their ability to break at speed and exploit the space ASPTT Dijon left when pushing forward. Three goals from a relatively modest share of the ball tells its own story.

ASPTT Dijon, by contrast, were progressive and positive but vulnerable to the counter. Their build-up play created genuine chances, and their two goals were well crafted, but the defensive gaps they conceded proved decisive. It is the classic National 2 dilemma: attacking ambition versus security at the back.

Standout Performers

• IS Selongey's attacking unit: Clinical and incisive, converting their best moments into goals.
• ASPTT Dijon's wide players: Consistent sources of crosses and creativity throughout the match.
• Selongey's defence in the closing stages: Repelled sustained pressure to protect a hard-earned three points.

Table and Season Impact

Winning away from home in the Championnat National 2 is one of the surest signs of a side capable of a strong season, and IS Selongey will value this victory highly. The three points boost their momentum and underline their threat on the road.

For ASPTT Dijon, the defeat is a frustrating one given the attacking quality they showed, but there are positives to build on. Reducing the space they offer on the counter will be the priority for the coaching staff in the coming weeks.

What's Next

ASPTT Dijon will look to tighten up defensively while preserving their attacking intent in their next outing, and IS Selongey will aim to carry this winning momentum into their next fixture. The division remains finely balanced, and results like this one can shape the mood of an entire month.
