PK-35 Vantaa claimed a 3-2 home victory over SJK Akatemia in the Finnish Ykkosliiga on 17 October 2026, surviving a determined second-half fightback before striking late at Myyrmäen jalkapallostadion. The win gave PK-35 three important points in the promotion conversation and underlined their ability to grind out results when the match threatened to slip away.

Match overview

PK-35 Vantaa made the brighter start and were rewarded for their early pressure with the opening goal inside the first ten minutes. The home side’s midfield pressed aggressively, forcing SJK Akatemia into mistakes near their own box, and a second goal arrived before half-time as PK-35 doubled their advantage with a composed finish from the edge of the area.

SJK Akatemia, a side built around developing young players, improved after the interval. Their possession game began to find gaps in the PK-35 shape, and two goals in the second half brought the visitors level. Just as the match seemed headed for a draw, PK-35 found a late winner from a set piece, sparking relief and celebration around the ground.

Key moments

• 9th minute: PK-35 Vantaa took the lead after a high turnover, with the ball moved quickly into the box for a low finish.
• 34th minute: The hosts doubled their advantage through a measured strike from the edge of the penalty area.
• 55th minute: SJK Akatemia pulled one back with a well-placed effort after a spell of sustained possession.
• 70th minute: The academy side equalised when a cross from the left was converted at the back post.
• 88th minute: PK-35 Vantaa won the match with a header from a corner, the ball creeping in despite a desperate clearance attempt.

Tactical story

PK-35 Vantaa’s plan was direct but effective. They looked to win the ball high, attack the channels and get crosses into the box early. That approach worked well in the first half, when SJK Akatemia struggled to cope with the intensity of the home side’s pressing. The two-goal cushion gave PK-35 the freedom to sit slightly deeper after the break, but it also invited pressure.

SJK Akatemia grew into the game once they settled on the ball. Their midfield rotations created space between the lines, and their wide players began to isolate PK-35’s full-backs. The equaliser was no accident, but the visitors were ultimately undone by their failure to defend one final set piece. PK-35’s substitutions also helped, adding fresh legs and height for the closing stages.

Standout performers and table impact

PK-35’s goalkeeper made two important saves at 2-2 to preserve the draw before the winner arrived, while the home side’s substitute winger changed the tempo after coming on. The centre-back who scored the late header will take the headlines, but the midfield’s work rate was just as important. For SJK Akatemia, the central midfielder dictated much of the second-half play, and the striker’s movement caused problems throughout.

The result strengthens PK-35 Vantaa’s position in the Ykkosliiga table and keeps them in the chase for the upper places. SJK Akatemia leave with nothing despite a brave comeback, but their development-focused project continues to show promise. On this evidence, both teams will have a say in how the second tier’s season unfolds.
