SK Artis Brno and FC Slovan Liberec played out a goalless draw in the Czech Chance Liga on Saturday, 19 September 2026, with both defences coming out on top in a tightly contested encounter at the Městský fotbalový stadion Srbská. Clear chances were at a premium, and neither side could find the moment of quality needed to break the deadlock.

Match overview

Artis Brno, playing at home, started with energy and looked to press Liberec high up the pitch. The home side's intensity caused a few early turnovers, and they managed to create a couple of half-chances from wide areas. But Liberec's defence held firm, clearing crosses effectively and denying space in the penalty area.

As the first half progressed, Liberec grew into the game and began to control possession. Their midfielders dictated the tempo, switching play from side to side and looking for gaps in Artis Brno's defensive block. However, the visitors struggled to turn their possession into clear opportunities, and the home goalkeeper was rarely tested.

Key moments

• 12th minute: Artis Brno's first real opening, a driven shot from outside the box that was tipped over the crossbar.
• 29th minute: Liberec's best chance of the first half, a header from a corner that sailed just over the bar.
• 54th minute: A quick Liberec counter ended with a shot from the edge of the area, but the Artis Brno goalkeeper made a comfortable save.
• 71st minute: Artis Brno almost found the breakthrough, but a goal-bound effort was blocked bravely by a Liberec defender.
• 88th minute: Liberec pushed forward late, but a last-ditch tackle denied them a clear sight of goal.
• Full-time: SK Artis Brno 0-0 FC Slovan Liberec.

Tactical story of the game

The match was a battle of two well-drilled defensive units. Artis Brno set up in a compact 4-2-3-1, looking to press in midfield and force Liberec into hurried passes. Their defensive discipline was impressive, with the back four holding a high line and the midfielders tracking runners diligently.

Liberec, meanwhile, favoured a patient build-up, using their full-backs to create width and their central midfielders to circulate the ball. They enjoyed more possession but found it difficult to penetrate a deep and organised Artis Brno defence. Whenever they did find space in wide areas, the final cross was often cleared or overhit.

Standout players

Both goalkeepers deserve credit for the clean sheets. Artis Brno's goalkeeper was alert to danger and dealt confidently with crosses and set-pieces, while his Liberec counterpart made a crucial save in the second half to preserve the draw. In defence, the two centre-back pairings were outstanding, winning headers and making timely interceptions throughout.

In midfield, Liberec's playmaker was the most creative player on the pitch, constantly looking for passes between the lines. For Artis Brno, the holding midfielder worked tirelessly, breaking up attacks and providing a shield in front of the back four. Up front, both sets of forwards had limited service and found little room to manoeuvre.

What the result means

The point keeps Artis Brno competitive in the Chance Liga and extends their unbeaten home record in what has been a challenging season. For a side fighting to establish itself in the top flight, clean sheets and disciplined defensive displays are valuable building blocks. The challenge now is to add more goals to their game.

For Slovan Liberec, the draw is a frustrating one because they had enough possession to win. The club has aspirations of finishing in the upper half of the Chance Liga table and competing for a place in the championship group after the split. Dropping points against a determined home side is a setback, but the defensive solidity shown will encourage the coaching staff.
