Rwandan giants APR FC edged past Ugandan champions Vipers 2-1 in a closely contested CECAFA club competition match at Kigali Pele Stadium. The result gives APR a slender advantage in the regional tournament that serves as a springboard for East African clubs to gain continental experience.

APR dominated the opening 45 minutes and took a deserved lead in the 23rd minute.
