UD Alagoana U20 Women and Ponte Preta AL U20 (W) Draw 0-0 in Brazilian U20 Championship

Final score: UD Alagoana U20 Women 0-0 Ponte Preta AL U20 (W)

UD Alagoana U20 Women and Ponte Preta AL U20 (W) played out a 0-0 draw in the BRA WC U20 on 18 October 2026, with both teams taking a point from a competitive and physically demanding fixture. The Brazilian women’s U20 championship match was decided by defensive organisation and goalkeeping rather than finishing, as clear chances remained scarce throughout.

Match overview

UD Alagoana U20 Women started with a high tempo, pressing Ponte Preta AL U20 (W) in their own half and trying to force mistakes in the build-up. The home side looked to attack through the wide areas and delivered several early crosses, but Ponte Preta’s defence dealt with them comfortably. As the first half progressed, Ponte Preta settled into the game and began to keep possession more effectively, slowing the tempo and drawing Alagoana into a more stretched shape.

Key moments

The best opportunity of the first half fell to UD Alagoana U20 Women after a quick combination near the edge of the box, but the final shot was blocked by a well-timed challenge. Ponte Preta AL U20 (W) responded with a free-kick that curled just wide of the far post. In the second half, Alagoana pushed harder for the opener and forced the Ponte Preta goalkeeper into a diving save. At the other end, a rare Ponte Preta break ended with a shot from distance that the Alagoana goalkeeper held safely.

• UD Alagoana U20 Women pressed aggressively but could not find a finishing touch.
• Ponte Preta AL U20 (W) defended compactly and threatened from set pieces.
• Both goalkeepers made important second-half saves.
• The BRA WC U20 fixture ended in a 0-0 draw.

Tactical story

Alagoana’s game plan was built on pressure and quick attacks down the flanks. Their midfielders pushed forward to support the forwards, but that also left space for Ponte Preta to exploit on the counter. Ponte Preta AL U20 (W) chose a more conservative approach, keeping numbers behind the ball and looking to release their wide players when Alagoana lost possession. The tactical battle was evenly matched: Alagoana had more of the ball, while Ponte Preta had the clearer defensive structure.

Standout performers

The goalkeepers were central to the result. UD Alagoana’s goalkeeper commanded her area well and dealt with several crosses under pressure, while Ponte Preta’s shot-stopper produced the standout save of the second half. Both centre-back pairings also deserved credit for staying composed in a match that became stretched at times. In midfield, the work rate on both sides was high, with tackles and interceptions preventing either team from building sustained momentum.

Standings impact

The 0-0 draw gives both sides a point in the Brazilian women’s U20 championship. UD Alagoana U20 Women will be pleased with their pressing and attacking intent but frustrated by the lack of a goal. Ponte Preta AL U20 (W) will take encouragement from a disciplined away performance and a clean sheet. In a competitive youth competition, matches like this often come down to small details, and both teams showed enough defensive quality to suggest they will remain difficult to beat in the fixtures ahead.
