Team Info

tigerscores365 The Salvador W are a professional women's basketball team based in Salvador, Brazil, competing in the top domestic league. The team plays its home games at the Arena Salvador, a modern multi-purpose venue. Founded in 2015, the club's colors are blue and white, owned by a local consortium and led by head coach Ana Silva. The team was formed to provide a high-level platform for female athletes in the Bahia region, adopting the city's name to represent its vibrant culture. Their peak era came in the late 2010s, led by star guard Maria Santos, when they secured back-to-back league playoff appearances and reached the national cup final in 2019. In the modern era, the team is rebuilding around young talents like forward Carla Mendes, aiming to return to postseason contention after a few transitional seasons. The fan base, known as "Torcida Azul," creates a lively atmosphere at home games, with the mascot "Sereia" (The Mermaid) energizing the crowd. The Salvador W continue to be a proud standard-bearer for women's basketball in northeastern Brazil.
