Team Info

tigerscores365 Mens Sana Basketball Siena, often simply referred to as Montepaschi Siena, is one of the most storied clubs in Italian basketball history, based in the beautiful Tuscan city of Siena. The team has been a cornerstone of the Lega Basket Serie A, Italy's premier division. Their legendary home is the PalaEstra, an arena where countless historic moments have unfolded. Founded in 1871 as a sports society, the basketball section was established later, with the club's famous green and white colors becoming iconic. Under the long-term sponsorship of the Monte dei Paschi di Siena bank, the club entered a golden age of unprecedented success. The peak era was undoubtedly the 2000s and early 2010s, when Siena dominated Italian basketball, winning a remarkable seven consecutive Serie A championships from 2004 to 2011, along with multiple Italian Cups and Supercups. Coached by legends like Simone Pianigiani and featuring stars like Terrell McIntyre, Bootsy Thornton, and Kšyštof Lavrinovič, the team also became a force in the EuroLeague, regularly reaching the Final Four. Financial difficulties led to a dramatic fall from the top flight, but the club's legacy is untouchable. In the modern era, a rebuilt Mens Sana is climbing back through the Italian league system, fueled by the undying passion of its fan base, known as the "Nobile Contrada." The atmosphere at the PalaEstra remains one of the most electrifying in all of European sports. Mens Sana Siena is a club whose history is written in gold, with a community determined to write new chapters.
