Team Info

tigerscores365 The Eng Tat Hornets are a competitive basketball team operating in the Malaysian basketball circuit, known for their aggressive and speedy style of play. They are based in Johor Bahru and play their home games at the Pasir Gudang Indoor Stadium. The team's full identity is the Eng Tat Hornets, representing Johor Bahru in the Malaysia Basketball League. Their home court is the Pasir Gudang Indoor Stadium, and the franchise was established in 2005. The team's colors are black and yellow, owned by the Eng Tat manufacturing conglomerate, and coached by the experienced Goh Cheng Huat. The Hornets were founded as a corporate team to promote the Eng Tat brand through sports, with the "Hornets" moniker chosen to symbolize a tenacious and swarming defense. The franchise's most successful period came shortly after its founding, capturing the MBI Cup in 2008 behind the explosive backcourt duo of Arifin Mamat and Kwaan Yoong Jing. That team was known for its full-court pressure and fast breaks, living up to their insect namesake. While they have not secured a league championship, they have been a consistent playoff team, often acting as a tough out for higher-seeded opponents. The modern Hornets are built around a young, athletic roster, with forward Ting Chun Hong emerging as a key scorer and leader. Recent seasons have seen them finish in the middle of the pack, showing flashes of potential but lacking the consistency to challenge the very top teams. Their fan culture is growing, with a dedicated group of supporters who appreciate the team's relentless energy. The Eng Tat Hornets continue to buzz with potential, aiming to sting their way to the top of Malaysian basketball.
