Team Info

tigerscores365 Chong Ghee is a storied basketball institution based in Singapore, competing in the ASEAN Basketball League. The team calls the OCBC Arena its home, a modern facility that provides a fantastic backdrop for their games. The club's full name is Chong Ghee Basketball Club, hailing from Singapore and competing in the league's Island Division. Their arena is the OCBC Arena, and the team was founded in 1975. Their traditional colors are red and white, under the ownership of the Chong Ghee Group, with head coach Lim Wei Jie at the helm. The team was formed by a group of local businessmen and sports enthusiasts, named after the Chong Ghee association which promotes community and athletic excellence. For decades, it served as a breeding ground for Singaporean national team players. The key era for Chong Ghee was in the late 1980s and early 1990s, when they dominated the domestic scene. Led by the prolific scoring of forward Wong Wei Long and the defensive prowess of center Pathman Matialakan, the team secured four national championships in a six-year span. Their disciplined, system-oriented play under coach Robert Hu became their trademark. In recent years, the modern Chong Ghee squad has integrated international talent while maintaining a strong local core, with players like Delvin Goh providing leadership. They have been regular participants in regional competitions, though championship glory has been elusive in the expanded ASEAN league landscape. The fan base, known as the "Red Army," is deeply loyal, creating a vibrant and supportive atmosphere at every home game. Chong Ghee remains a pillar of Singaporean basketball, a club respected for its tradition and community roots.
