Kolossos Rhodes H Hotels Collection B.C. claimed an 80-70 home win over Vikos Falcons B.C. in the Greek Basket League, combining balanced scoring with a strong second-half defensive effort. The Rhodes club gradually pulled away after a tight opening period and held off a late Falcons surge to secure the result.

Match overview

The game began with both teams trading baskets in a lively first quarter. Kolossos looked comfortable attacking from the perimeter, while Vikos Falcons found success with drives and mid-range shooting. Neither side managed to build a significant lead early, and the contest remained finely balanced heading into the second half.

Kolossos changed the complexion of the game after the break. The hosts tightened their defense, forced turnovers, and turned those extra possessions into points. Vikos Falcons remained competitive but were unable to match Kolossos’s efficiency down the stretch. The final 80-70 scoreline gave the home side a well-deserved victory.

Key moments

The decisive run arrived in the third quarter, when Kolossos strung together a series of stops and converted them into quick baskets. A 12-2 burst gave the hosts breathing room and forced Vikos Falcons into a timeout. The visitors responded with renewed energy in the fourth, trimming the deficit and making the closing minutes tense.

Kolossos, however, kept their composure. Timely three-point shooting and free-throw accuracy helped them restore a comfortable margin. A late defensive stand effectively ended Vikos Falcons’ comeback hopes, allowing the home crowd to celebrate a solid league win.

Tactical story

Kolossos’s offensive balance was a key factor. The hosts shared the ball well, attacked closeouts, and got contributions from multiple positions. Their perimeter shooting stretched the Falcons’ defense, creating driving lanes and second-chance opportunities. Defensively, Kolossos did a good job of containing penetration in the second half and forcing Vikos Falcons into contested shots.

Vikos Falcons competed hard on the boards and showed flashes of strong half-court execution, but turnovers and cold stretches hurt their cause. The visitors needed more consistent production from their bench to counter Kolossos’s depth. In the end, the home side’s ability to control key stretches of the game proved decisive.

Standout performers

Kolossos received strong contributions from its backcourt, which dictated tempo and knocked down important shots. The frontcourt also played a key role on the glass, limiting second-chance points for the Falcons. For Vikos Falcons, the leading scorers kept the team within reach, but the supporting cast struggled to find rhythm against Kolossos’s adjusted defense.

Season impact

The victory strengthens Kolossos Rhodes H Hotels Collection B.C.’s position in the Greek Basket League standings and highlights their home-court strength. For Vikos Falcons B.C., the loss is a missed opportunity on the road, though the competitive nature of the performance suggests they can challenge other mid-table rivals. Both teams will now turn their attention to the next set of league results.
